Independent labels are usually more flexible in terms of who they sign and the contract they offer.
Most major labels still offer a royalty that is a percent of SRLP (Standard Retail List Price), usually ranging from 10-15% where as LHP Records offers 60%+ of all sales (with half of what is retained going to pay for development of the artist / band).
Some deals with major mean the you have to record so many albums within the length of the contract. At LHP one contract = one album or EP.
